About Our

Singapore certified plastic surgeon Dr Andrew Tay is a rhinoplasty specialist in Singapore with more than 15 years of experience. Dr Tay is a reputable and trusted specialist who has been featured in various media for his opinion in plastic and reconstructive matters.

When it comes to rhinoplasty, it is important to find a plastic surgeon who takes the time to discuss every question or concern each patient may have prior to her procedure before arriving at an appropriate treatment plan.

Our Clinic offers the Closed-Incision Method

Using the closed-incision method, the nose is not subjected to invasive open incision surgery. Instead the prosthesis (implant) is inserted through a small incision in the membranes inside of the nostrils, with no visible external scarring.

Prior to the procedure, an in-depth consultation is conducted to choose the most appropriate implant for the nasal bridge, to ensure the final outcome will complement your facial features.

Prices start from $3900

If you are not suitable for the closed-incision procedure, our clinic offers the conventional open incision method as well.

If you are not suitable for the closed-incision procedure, our clinic offers the conventional open incision method as well.

The Conventional Open-Incision Method

Open rhinoplasty uses an incision across the skin between the nostrils. This allows the surgeon to see all of the underlying structure of the nose, and enables more dramatic results. The only surgical difference between the two methods is the incision pattern utilised. An open rhinoplasty has a visible scar that goes across the columella, the piece of skin that separates the nose into two nostrils.

Prices start from $7900

Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult operations in facial plastic surgery. The operation is difficult because every nose is different and the anatomy varies from patient to patient. As the anatomy varies so must the techniques used for correction. The surgeon must be able to perform a precise and complete nasal analysis to spot all of the aesthetic and functional deformities. Then the surgeon must formulate a surgical plan that is conceived to correct the specific deformities. FAQs on Rhinoplasty

  • 1. Who is a candidate for a rhinoplasty?
A patient is a good candidate for a rhinoplasty if there is a feature in their nose that they wish to have changed for either cosmetic or medical reasons.
  • 2. What should I consider before deciding whether or not to get a rhinoplasty?
The starting point is to be sure whether you actually want to change the appearance of your nose, and if so, in what way do you wish it would look different. Do you want a bump removed or a narrower tip? During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will then examine you with a mind for determining two things. First, whether he agrees that you have the problem you think that you do. The second thing is for him to offer his opinion about whether you will indeed look better with such a change.
  • 3. Will my nose look ‘natural’ after a rhinoplasty?
A nose should look natural after a rhinoplasty, meaning it should look as if you could have been born with it. There should be no telltale signs of surgery. There are two reasons noses do not look natural, and a good plastic surgeon will avoid both. The first is that the nose does not belong on the face, such as a Northern European nose on a Chinese person. The second reason that noses may not look natural is that the nose itself looks like it has been operated upon, such as having the tip turned excessively up, having the tip overly narrowed and pinched, etc.
  • 4. What form of anaesthesia will be used for my procedure?
Many rhinoplasty procedures such as closed augmentation rhinoplasty can be done using local anaesthesia with light sedation. General anaesthesia is recommended for some procedures - for example when the septum is being modified (septoplasty), when rib cartilage is being used, or when the bones are being re-positioned (osteotomies).
  • 5. What’s the difference between a rhinoplasty and a septoplasty?
A rhinoplasty is a reshaping of the nose for cosmetic reasons. It does not specifically do anything to improve breathing. A septoplasty is a reshaping of the septum, the wall that separates the two sides of the nose. Its purpose is to improve breathing.
  • 6. Does insurance cover a rhinoplasty or a septoplasty?
Insurance will never cover a rhinoplasty, because a rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure. A septoplasty is done to improve breathing, and if the problem is documented to be severe enough, most insurers will pay.
  • 7. How soon can I go to work?
Most patients can go to work after the splint comes off at five to seven days after surgery, though there may still be bruising as long as seven days. Some patients will go back to work after just a few days if they don’t mind being seen with a splint on their nose.

At The Plastic Surgery Practice, we are passionate about helping both women and men restore natural looking noses in a safe environment. We are here to guide you see the big picture, shifting the focus from the nose as an isolated structure to how working with, and improving, the nose will enhance the your entire facial shape and size.
